Terms

These terms cover
the website.

Your right to use the DocSlicer software comes from AGPL-3.0 or from a commercial licence agreement signed with us — not from this page. What follows governs this website: the documentation, the benchmark figures, the code samples, and the DocSlicer name and logo.

The details

01

What these terms govern

These terms apply to your use of docslicer.aiand its content. They are an agreement between you and the maintainers of DocSlicer (“we”, “us”). If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.

They do not govern the software. Nothing on this page adds any restriction to, or takes anything away from, the rights AGPL-3.0 grants you over DocSlicer itself. Where this page and a licence disagree about the software, the licence wins.

02

The software is licensed separately

DocSlicer is dual-licensed. You may use it under AGPL-3.0, whose terms are the full statement of what you may do — including running it, modifying it, and redistributing it, subject to the source-availability obligations AGPL imposes when you convey it or offer it over a network. Alternatively, you may hold a commercial licence from us, in which case that signed agreement, and not AGPL, defines your rights.

Our licensing page explains which applies to you in plain language, but it is a summary written for convenience. Only the licence text itself is binding: AGPL-3.0 as published by the Free Software Foundation, or your executed commercial agreement.

No commercial licence is granted by using this website, by emailing us, or by any statement on these pages. A commercial licence exists only when we and you have both signed one.

03

No account, no service

This is a documentation and marketing site. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into, and no hosted API — DocSlicer runs on your own machine. We therefore make no commitment about uptime or availability, and we may change, move, or take down any part of this site at any time.

04

Documentation, benchmarks, and code samples

Everything published here is provided for information, as is, with no guarantee that it is accurate, current, or complete. Documentation can lag behind the code; the source at github.com/DocSlicer/DocSlicer is authoritative where the two conflict.

Benchmark figures in particular. Published numbers describe specific documents on specific hardware with a specific version, and are not a promise of the performance, accuracy, or extraction quality you will see on your own corpus. Document parsing varies enormously with input. Benchmark it yourself against your real documents before you rely on it, and do not treat anything here as a performance warranty or as a representation you may pass on to your own customers.

Code samples are illustrations, not production code. They are offered without warranty and generally omit the error handling, validation, and resource limits real systems need.

05

Name and logo

The DocSlicer name, wordmark, and logo are ours, and no licence to them is granted here. This matters because AGPL-3.0 is a copyright licence over the code: it lets you fork, modify, and redistribute the software, but it conveys no trademark rights whatsoever.

So you are free to fork DocSlicer — please do — but do not use our name or logo as the name or branding of your fork, and do not use them in any way suggesting your product is DocSlicer, is endorsed by us, or is affiliated with us. Naming DocSlicer accurately in prose is always fine: saying your project is built on DocSlicer, is a fork of it, or is compatible with it needs no permission from us. If you want to use the marks beyond that, ask.

The site's own text and design are ours as well, and are not covered by the software licence.

06

Third-party links

We link to GitHub, PyPI, and other services we do not control. Those links are not endorsements, and once you follow one, that service's own terms and privacy policy govern what happens there.

07

Acceptable use of this site

Read it, quote it, link to it, and scrape it politely if you must. Do not attempt to break into it, disrupt it, overwhelm it with automated traffic, or use it to distribute malware. That is the whole list.

08

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

This website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of your use of this site or your reliance on anything published here. Our total liability for any claim relating to this website is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Liability for the software is disclaimed separately, by sections 15 and 16 of AGPL-3.0 or by your commercial agreement, and this section neither replaces nor enlarges those.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud.

09

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in California have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If you are a consumer, mandatory law in your country of residence may give you protections and a local forum that this section cannot override, and nothing here takes those away. Note also that a commercial licence agreement carries its own governing-law clause, which controls for anything arising under it.

10

Changes, severability, and contact

We may update these terms; the current version always lives on this page with a new “last updated” date, and the previous wording remains visible in this site's git history. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. Changes here never alter a licence already granted to you.

If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
